My journey into Learning Design began during university, where I first encountered the field through an Instructional Design subject. What started as a core unit quickly sparked a passion—I was fascinated by the way thoughtful design could turn complex information into engaging, accessible learning experiences. That subject introduced me to the power of frameworks like ADDIE and all the Adult Learning theories, and I found myself drawn to the creative challenge of designing with purpose.

Upper Murray Family Care
This Interactive CDROM used a hybrid of Macromedia Director and Authorware, for Upper Murray Family Care (Foster Care) with custom LINGO scripting and coding.
After receiving the HD for my Instructional Design class at University, I was entered into the Telstra “Interactive Intelligence” Awards where I won and was presented a Gold Award for Most Innovative Content (Student Project) accompanied with $5000 by Jeff Kennett to further develop the program.
Protherics
In my role within the pharmaceutical company Protherics, I operated at the intersection of Business Analysis, UX design, Learning & Development and IT support, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and the creation of digital learning solutions. One key responsibility was developing comprehensive documentation to support the replacement of legacy systems, ensuring alignment with global enterprise standards and the strict regulatory requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) across the U.S., UK, and Australia. Working with systems such as TAbPACS (FoxPro, VB5) and SAPHIR (ASM, VB.NET, MS SQL Server 2003 with RFID), I used Microsoft Office, Visio, and Crystal Reports to produce detailed technical and process documentation essential for system validation and audit readiness. As part of this process, I collaborated with stakeholders to ensure all documentation and systems were audit-compliant and aligned with cleanroom protocols.
In parallel, I led the creation of the eLearning that supported IT system adoption and regulatory compliance for the company globally. This included designing SCORM-compliant eLearning modules for Clean Room operations (Infection Prevention Principles), GMP/GLP awareness, and IT onboarding using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Axure RP, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office suite. I worked closely with the Global Marketing and Communications Managers to ensure consistency with corporate branding and style guidelines. Additionally, I supported the IT team in maintaining network reliability and data integrity—critical in regulated pharmaceutical environments—and facilitated both face-to-face and online training to ensure users across all departments could confidently engage with the systems and uphold compliance expectations.

At Cengage Learning Australia, working with the Secondary School Division, as a partnership with Apple, I introduced Cengage to the use of iBooks which were built from the ground up to enhance the teaching of mathematics and history in an imaginative, engaging and truly interactive manner using advanced HTML5 and JavaScript. Teachers and students could download and use these amazing resources directly to their iPad® at any time of day.
One solution I created was called Mission: Francais. This was an interactive whiteboard application which provided a comprehensive course for Junior Secondary (Yrs 7 and 8) French which was mapped to the Victorian State Curriculum. In this application, students were encouraged to think critically and engage with the language, using linguistic skills to work through problems using the whiteboard’s built in stylus (Optical Character Recognition via ), web camera functionality and custom written voice recognition algorithms. This was developed using Adobe AIR, ActionScript 3, Apple Cocoa (Objective-C).
Another cool project I helped develop was the DVD resources designed for students using the Nelson Literacy Directions middle- and upper-primary core literacy program. The video clips provide an engaging range of short multimodal texts that support oral language development. The DVD contained 46 video clips for the 36 levelled texts and 27 exemplar card texts in Nelson Literacy Directions. Some of these clips had associated complimentary interactive games and activities I created using Macromedia Director (Lingo) and or Flash (AS3). SAI Global Lead Auditor Course
Working closely with Technical Scheme Owners and SMEs globally, I was hired to improve SAI Global Assurance’s training and induction program and enhance the on-boarding experience for new employees. The changes were aimed at providing more flexibility and accessibility, as well as making the experience more engaging by introducing interactivity. The course I designed and developed, presented the learning through an engaging, yet sophisticated, case study that is woven through all modules. This case study is a generic one, using the example of an integrated risk-based audit, so that it covers all disciplines such as quality, OH&S, food safety and environmental audits.
In the lessons, the learner plays an imaginary Lead Auditor initiating, conducting and evaluating an audit systematically, as per the guidelines outlined in ISO 19011:2002 standard. The course followed you and her team as they go about engaging in discussions with the audit client and auditee, planning for the audit, using various tools to gather and analyse audit findings and then present them to the audit client and auditee. It also follows them all in post-audit activities and provides the learner with all associated activities and templates necessary to complete their assessments.
